MEET THE TEAM: Getting to Know the People Behind the Buzz Pt. 1

The people behind a company are just as important as the company itself. In fact, an entire company is only as strong as the people who show up and give something of themselves each day.

So we thought it would be nice and fitting to allow you guys to take a peek behind the curtain and see the awesome, hardworking folks who are responsible for the magic in Fizzbuzz through this Meet the Team multi-series.

Here we get to meet the individuals who are behind the faces and the names. We learn about their skills, their passions, and maybe get to know an aspect of them beyond the usual 9 to 5.

For this first installment, we shall delve into the imagination laboratory of sorts here at Fizzbuzz – where idea and concepts are conceived, incubated, and brought to life. Meet the Fizzbuzz Creative Team:

Wondering who’s behind the snazzy web and app designs? Ever wonder whose eyes we see those clever, creative videos and “al dente” snapshots through? It’s this guy right here!

1. What did you want to be when growing up? Why did you choose that ambition?

Captain of a ship, coz money money money! Seriously, growing up, I had a couple of friends who I noticed had all the latest toys and when I asked how that happened, the answer was always that their dad worked as seafarers. And I figured, hey if I made as much like a captain of a ship, I would be able to buy all the toys I wanted (or buy toys for my future kids, hahaha).

And did you end up pursuing that?

Nope. I found the creative bug through my older brother, who was the artist-type. His pursuits in art and designs were what drew me to the industry.

2. What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?

Collaborating with the team, the fun of sharing ideas and then working together towards realizing them.

3. What do you do during your free time?

Checking myself out in the mirror, haha, I kid.

Not drinking (Editor’s Note: This is an obvious fallacy haha).

Watching movies, bingeing on YouTube videos, “stalking” people on social media hahaha (because who doesn’t?)

4. Are you Team Pineapple or Team Don’t Even Ask?

(Is this a pizza question?) Don’t Even Ask.

5. What are the TOP 5 essential artists on your Spotify playlist these days?

IV of Spades

Post Malone

Ben & Ben

All out 80’s

Disney Songs Collection!

You’re looking at the next big social media sensation with her natural chops on cam (just check out our YouTube videos, the ones narrated by this one)…and she’s a whiz in 3D art too? Awesome. Just awesome.

1. What did you want to be when growing up? Why did you choose that ambition? And did you end up pursuing that?

I was interested in pursuing something in the medical field only because I wanted to give free medication to people who can’t afford it. But you know growing up, my love for arts grew and I didn’t end up pursuing it. So here I am.

2. What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?

As an artist, well, it is always the process of bringing the imagination to life.

3. What do you like to do in your spare time?

Netflix, plan for DIY travels (haha DM me for free travel itinerary)

4. Team Pineapple or Team Don’t Even Ask Me?

As long as it’s edible, I’m good.

5. What are the TOP 5 essential artists on your Spotify playlist these days?

COLDPLAY

The paper kites

The Beatles

Arctic Monkeys

Maroon 5

If not hacking away at her keyboard trying to make it to a deadline, Rizza will be found ogling at photos of Chris Hemsworth, watching funny dog videos, and browsing through the menu of an online food delivery website.

1. What did you want to be when growing up? Why did you choose that ambition?

My first recollection of having an ambition was back when I was in kindergarten when our entire class was asked to pick what they wanted to be when growing up. And I picked “scientist” because everyone else was a nurse, a doctor, or a teacher. I wanted to be different, so I chose “scientist”. That and I thought they must have awesome lives tinkering with tools, building spaceships, or discovering uncharted facets of our existence. But really, I guess that’s just who I am — always trying to pick the unconventional and I guess that’s why I am who I am today, career-wise, nothing too defined. Nothing too alike.

And did you end up pursuing that?

Obviously no. Hahaha. I became a moody teenager. And as it goes with moody teenagers, I gravitated to the humanities — art, music, literature, and film

I still love science, I mean it is a sort of poetry in itself. But I really found my warm little corner in the arts and made my home there ever since. Every significant “phase” of my life had counterparts of poems, films, artworks, and music: Neruda in high school, Bukowski in my 20s…that type of stuff. Even to this day, I still keep that moody teenager around with me. Haha.

And I ended up abandoning being a scientist because later I learned it involved some math and well…math and I don’t get along that well. Sorry, math.

2. What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?

I love the entire creative process of collaboration, the exchange of ideas, and basically just the fact that you get to create something out of nothing and then see those ideas to fruition.

3. What do you like to do in your spare time?

Like everybody else – NETFLIX – haha.

But a real-life passion I have is travel – the idea of discovering, understanding and appreciating cultures really never gets old. Travel also ticks off most of my interest boxes. Every travel you get to discover new art, new music and open yourself up to the architecture and landscape of a new territory.

And I consider this passion of mine a great shaper of who I am and what I value in life – travel is a wonderful teacher. I realize now that I must sound like a total tool for waxing poetic about this, but that just really is the case for me. I hope to see as many places and encounter as many enlightening experiences for the rest of my life.

4. Team Pineapple or Team Don’t Even Ask Me?

I believe in equal rights across all pizza toppings.

5. Which artists/songs are in the TOP 5 most replayed in your Spotify playlist?

Queen

Panic! At the Disco

True Crime Podcasts (Casefiles, Sword and Scale)

Imagine Dragons

My custom playlist (because my playlist is like my emotions – many and varied)

And that concludes the first part in this Meet the Team Series. Join us again next week to get to know another bunch of talented individuals from the Fizzbuzz family. Until then, thanks for supporting our blog. We’re not really sure anyone else (besides us, haha) is reading all of the stuff here, so it would be cool to hear from you. Do drop a line or a hello. We’re nice people. We promise.
