Gamescom 2023: Fizzbuzz Inc.’s Journey From Cebu to Cologne
From tropical Cebu, Philippines, to the picturesque city of Cologne, Germany, Fizzbuzz, Inc., represented by Raquel “King” Montecillo Mascarinas and Gabriel Matthan Luceño, answered the call to adventure and attended Gamescom 2023!
Gamescom stood as the ultimate gaming mecca in Europe that ran from August 23 to 28. For Fizzbuzz, it represented a pivotal moment as part of the Philippine Game Dev delegation, with support from Arise Plus Philippines—an initiative endorsed by the European Union, the Department of Trade and Industries (DTI), and the International Trade Center (ITC). This endeavor aims to enhance international trade and elevate competitiveness within the gaming sector.
Our journey began with meticulous preparation, covering research, budgeting, and logistics to ensure a seamless experience in Cologne. We secured accommodations and assembled everything we needed for our Gamescom booth.
When we arrived, we didn’t anticipate the venue to be so big and that people were constantly moving. The Philippine area seemed modest compared to other exhibitors’ spacious and well-organized booths. However, we managed to attract a steady flow of visitors, and many engaged with our presentations and those of the other delegates. To further draw people in, we offered mango candies coated in chocolate, providing a taste of Cebu City.
At the trade fair, we proudly showcased our animation projects, including 2D, 3D, and Stop-Motion Animation, as well as offering the services we can provide for clients in the game development industry, like Character Animation, Environmental Animation, Cutscenes, UI/UX Animation, Interactive Animations, Promotional Materials, Prototyping, 3D Modeling, and Stop-Motion Integration.
Connecting with people from all corners of the globe was a standout experience. We swapped business cards, delved into enlightening discussions, and exchanged innovative ideas. Gamescom 2023 proved to be an exceptional epicenter of creativity and innovation that left a lasting impact on all of us.
We eagerly anticipate our next Gamescom attendance, aiming to be even better prepared. Our goal remains not only to network and offer our services but also to be able to present a game developed by Fizzbuzz.
